Data Integrity & Interpretation Review

Trust your data. Before trusting your decisions.

Every improvement and decision relies on data, but only when that data are accurate and trustworthy. “Garbage in, garbage out” is not a slogan; it is a structural risk. Weak foundations create false certainty.

Before conclusions are presented as facts, the underlying data and analysis must withstand scrutiny.

Data integrity review is actually asking yourself three fundamental questions:
Is the data and analysis reliable?
Do the conclusions genuinely follow the data?
And what does the data truly support, and where does interpretation go beyond it?

This service is about clarity, robustness, and restraint: knowing precisely what the evidence justifies — and what it does not.

Why this matters

Across industry, science, and public communication, we repeatedly see the same pattern:

  • Numbers are treated as facts without questioning how they were produced
  • Operational definitions do not exist, or are not questioned
  • Common cause variation is misinterpreted as signal
  • Improvements do not hold
  • Outliers not questioned
  • Graphs persuade more than the underlying evidence justifies
  • Conclusions are drawn that go beyond what the data can sustain

The result is not always misuse, far more often it is lack of time, overconfidence, or untested assumptions. Yet the impact can be severe: incorrect decisions, regulatory exposure, internal confusion, and loss of credibility.

What I do

I examine whether the data itself is fit for purpose, and assess the findings and statements built on the data.

This includes reviewing and evaluating:

  • Data origin, definitions, and context
  • Measurement Systems
  • Missing data
  • Basic statistical soundness
  • Whether conclusions follow logically from the data
  • Hidden assumptions and framing effects
  • Misinterpretation of variation, trends, or averages
  • Overstated certainty, selective reporting
  • Anomalies, irregular patterns, flawed numbers

The goal is not perfection, but trustworthiness.

Can these data reasonably support decisions or conclusions?
Can your statements withstand scrutiny, aligned with your data?

Typical situations where this helps

  • Dashboards or scorecards driving major decisions
  • Quality, safety, or performance claims under discussion
  • Supplier or partner data raising doubts
  • Major – or recurring customer complaints
  • Key process improvement decisions requiring scrutiny
  • Management decisions needing accurate and trustworthy data

You'll gain

✅ A structured review summary
✅ Clear identification of strengths, weaknesses, and risks
✅ Explicit distinction between signal, noise, and uncertainty
✅ Documented assumptions and limitations
✅ Practical recommendations for next steps
✅ Risk reduction of wrong or misleading conclusions
